Politics and Money

Now, some of you may have heard about the massive argument going on in the UK at the moment - if you live here, you definitely will have done - about the MP expenses claims.

Essentially, every member of parliament (MP) gets to claim expenses for various things. Up until recently, the claims have been kept almost completely hidden from the public, meaning the MPs can get away with spending taxpayer's money on whatever the fuck they want.

Not anymore. Someone has released all the details or someone got hold of them somehow and basically, it is now public knowledge. It seems as if every politician in the entire system is a total asswipe who has taken advantage of the claims system to get loads and loads of money for things like swimming pools and DVD players. The claims are sposed to be for essential home maintenance, repairs, travel costs and like.. important stuff.

Some people are calling for an election so we can kick out the asswipe MPs and put nice new ones in place who haven't been stealing from us. The system, apparently, is also gonna get reformed to try and stop anymore stealing in future. I am hoping the ones who have been stealing - up to thousands of £s in some cases - will get punished properly. They are no better than common criminals.

But - any time you put a system in place, people will abuse it for personal gain. How can you say who will and who won't? How can you elect fresh people to run the country and be sure they aren't gonna turn out to be another cheating bunch of crooks? What the fuck are we gonna do with these MPs, this system? People say - "Oh, I wouldnt make bogus claims at the taxpayer's expense" - but - how can you trust that they wouldnt once the opportunity arises?

How can we fix this?

Remove their expenses claims altogether? Let them use their nice big salaries to pay for all the shit they want, or give them a limited allowance of a few hundred £ a year to pay travel expenses. Maybe not even that. The MPs complain they dont get enough money and they deserve all the extra cash from expense claims and shit. Bollocks. They could try living with just one house and one car, or maybe taking the bus or train to parliament every day. Maybe they could live like normal people and then maybe they can see what things are like for the rest of us and then maybe they will do a better job and earn their salaries.

Why do you think it cost’s billions to run the European Parliament, it’s not just the UK parliament that has rotten eggs, everyone is at it.
Thing is, if you kick this lot out, the others were just as bad, you look back at all the records and Majors lot were at it, Thatchers lot were definitely at it, and I guess Sir Robert Walpole was only in it to make whatever he could out of the taxpayer, why do you think they invented taxes? To make the rich richer.

I'm sick of what is going on right now.
And that's not just in the UK, a huge fraud like this has been discovered in Belgium too just a few years ago.

I'm disgusted by our political system. And the so called "recession" is just a big awakenning of how bad our system is NOT working.

Capitalism is a word to describe a system where people with power and money abuse other people to get more of that power and money.
Why a MP, or a PDG of a bank would earn a 100x more than the guy working for subway ? Because they had the money/family situation to go to university ?
They are working the same amount of time tho ... why do they pay less for the shity job ? It should be the complete opposite !

But guys ... who put this system in place ? Who are voting for those MPs ?
Us.

How long are we going to accept this ? Everything is about money, and I'm tired of living in a golden cage.

Everything is spoiled to make money...
Even our entertainment...
I mean, everything is so focused about making money and it gets worse everyday ... When was the last time you played a genuely entertaining and good game ? When was the last truly good movie you watched ?
Of course they are still there ... a few of them ... drowned in a massive ocean of shit.

The biggest problem is : Revolution, yes. But what are we going to put in place instead of what we have now ?
I tend to be a bit of a comunist, but none of them have ever worked ...

The sad thing again is that most of the people don't even notice this ... they're dazed... numb ... playing ignorant. But this is no excuse ...

Bah ... I'm stopping here cuz otherwise I'd write for hours ...

We'd have to change human nature. Remove our natural, instinctual need for greed.

In the very, very old days, those who had the most food, the most power and the most bitches were the most successful in keeping their genes in the big pool of humanity.

That is, to ensure you have offspring and to ensure they have the chance of continuing your line, you need to get as much 'wealth' as possible, be that money or land, animals or peanuts.

Sooo.. that mindset has continued to this day - people like to think they are not greedy and selfish - but they are. Everyone is.

The system is based on the concept that everyone is honest. We trust people not to take advantage and to steal from us, and they do. I think most people would. I know I would be tempted at least.

So.. either the system changes or we do. I know which is easier.

Or we have ourselves some hangings to do. After the current government is all dead, I'll make myself PM, cos I'm awesome, Chopper likes bikes and saunas, he can be minister for sports and health, Snip can be the minister for foreign affairs and art. Anyone else wanna join in?

"Anyone else wanna join in?"

You will need a press secretary.

We want to ensure that the new leadership's people centric priorities are communicated clearly during what will ultimately be an uncertain transition to new representation.

The populace should feel empowered and engaged moving forward with the implementation of a fair and transparent regulatory structure.

Accountability will be a key focus point for the new administration and fiscal responsibility will be the cornerstone of that attention.

(Did I use enough buzzy words to talk to reporters? Can I be press secretary? Please!)

I'm impressed, Os.

Just using a single fancy word would have got you in. I think you're almost over-qualified, but I'll let you be press secretary if you want.
